Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 29, 2026

DexLink is built on a simple principle: your data belongs to you. Your contacts, activity history, and personal settings stay on your device and are never transmitted to our servers.

The short version

  • All data is stored locally on your device — we have no servers that receive your contact or activity data.
  • We request device permissions only to provide core features (Contacts, SMS, Notifications).
  • We do not sell, share, or monetise your personal information.
  • We do not use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.

1. Who we are

DexLink ("we", "our", "us") is a personal relationship management application for Android. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app accesses, how it is used, and your rights in relation to that information.

If you have any questions about this policy, you can contact us at privacy@dexlink.app.

2. Information we access

DexLink requests the following Android permissions to deliver its features. None of this data is transmitted off your device.

Contacts (READ_CONTACTS)

Used to import contacts, sync names, phone numbers, email addresses, and custom dates (birthdays, anniversaries). You control which contacts are added to DexLink.

SMS (SEND_SMS)

Used to open your default SMS app with a pre-filled message when you use Quick Messages or Batch Send. DexLink does not send SMS messages directly; it hands off to your SMS app and you confirm before sending.

Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS)

Used to deliver reconnect reminders and upcoming-date alerts. All notification scheduling happens locally on your device using the Android alarm manager.

Calendar (READ_CALENDAR) Optional

Optionally used to surface upcoming calendar events alongside your DexLink reminders. Not required for core functionality.

3. How your data is stored

All data created or imported by DexLink — including contacts, interaction history, tags, tiers, quick message templates, and app settings — is stored in a local SQLite database on your Android device.

This data is not uploaded to any external server, cloud service, or third party. If you uninstall DexLink, all locally stored data is deleted by Android. You can also manually export and delete your data from within the app's Settings screen.

4. Backup & restore

DexLink offers an optional local backup feature that creates an encrypted export file on your device's storage. You are responsible for any copies you make or transfer to other locations (e.g. cloud storage). If you use Android's built-in backup system (Google One Backup), your app data may be backed up by Android according to Google's privacy policy.

5. Third-party services

DexLink does not currently include any third-party analytics, crash-reporting, or advertising SDKs. We do not share your personal data with any third parties.

Future integrations: Future versions may offer optional integrations with services such as LinkedIn, Google Contacts API, or others. Any such integration will be opt-in, clearly disclosed, and governed by an updated version of this Privacy Policy. You will be notified within the app before any such feature is available.

6. Children's privacy

DexLink is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe your child has provided personal information through the app, please contact us and we will take steps to address it.

7. Your rights

Because all data is stored locally on your device, you have complete control over it at all times:

  • Access: Your data is directly accessible within the app at any time.
  • Deletion: You can remove individual contacts or wipe all DexLink data from Settings → Data Management.
  • Export: You can export your data as a backup file from Settings → Backup & Restore.
  • Portability: Backup files use an open format that you can inspect.

If you are in the EU/EEA, UK, California, or another jurisdiction with specific privacy rights, the above controls already satisfy your right to access, rectification, erasure, and data portability since no data is held by us.

8. Security

Your data is protected by Android's application sandbox, meaning other apps cannot access DexLink's local database. Optional backup files can be encrypted with a password you choose. We recommend keeping your device's screen lock enabled as a general security practice.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when we add new features. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and notify users within the app. Continued use of DexLink after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

10. Contact us
